West Coast View

Acrylic, 2018

A West Coast view from a handmade wooden red Muskoka chair. When you sit in this chair at the cabin you have the view all to yourself, framed by the logs of the cabin. This is where the sun sets over the ocean, the cedar, pine and fir trees sway and all that's required is a cozy sweater, a beverage and your thoughts. This piece includes references to the sun/moon and yin/yang of nature. Interference paints have been used to highlight the circular shapes on the edges of the piece, adding reflective and luminescent metallic blue-greens in dark areas, changing with the light of day and angle to which the painting is viewed. Sit back and let this piece flow over you.
