Art Beyond the Canvas: Brandy Saturley in Toronto
When art moves beyond the canvas and into the world – shared with audiences far and wide – it takes on a new kind of life. The work of Brandy Saturley is currently on view in Toronto at 2 Bloor West, situated in the city’s iconic Mink Mile shopping district, where luxury retail meets contemporary culture.
Through a continued partnership with Highness Global, this presentation reimagines how painting can be experienced. Installed above the reception area is a monumental digital LED screen measuring approximately 38 feet high by 43 feet wide. It is not simply a display – it is a stage. A place where a single image expands, breathes, and transforms the architectural space around it.
By licensing the digital image of an original painting, the work is liberated from its physical boundaries and reintroduced at an immersive scale. What was once intimate becomes expansive. What was once observed becomes felt.
For this installation, the client selected an early painting depicting a great sequoia tree – rendered in vivid colour and an almost abstract composition. On this scale, the painting takes on a commanding presence, its towering form echoing the natural grandeur of its subject. It does not just occupy the room; it reshapes it.
