Acrylic, 2020

This is the 17th portrait for the People of Canada Portrait Project. This portrait features father and son, with the sunrise and a hockey player on an open frozen lake. John Robert "Chick" Webster was a professional ice hockey player who was known for his time with the New York Rangers. Webster's nickname, Chick, was given to him in his playing days for his love of chewing Chiclets gum. He was known for his stick-handling abilities. Chick was an Army Veteran of the Second World War, serving with the 3rd Division’s 13th field artillery, first as a gunner then he became a forward observer.
