Everyone loves a polar bear, though I am not sure if we would feel the same, holding a close-up gaze with this mighty bear. The polar bear is little-known among Native American tribes (only the coastal Cree communities live in areas where polar bears are normally encountered in the wild), but they are well-known and of great cultural importance to the Inuit ("Eskimo") people of northern Alaska, Canada, and Greenland. In Indigenous cultures the bear is highly respected as the 'keeper of dreams', and 'the keeper of medicine', and is one of the most powerful totems.
